Default Poor running with baffle out.

Being the considerate neighbour I am, , I put the baffle in to do a bit of work with the bike last night. I forgot to take it out again before riding to work this morning and apart from feeling a bit weaker and sounding fairly pathetic, I couldn't believe how smooth it was! Getting away from the lights was so much easier and throttle was much less Start / Stop.

Is this to do with back pressure?

Whatever it's to do with, can I sort it so that it's smooth but fast and loud?

I want it all, me!

I'd expect you're running lean without the baffles and right with the baffles...

Simple as that?
(He says, pretending he has the slightest clue about what to do about it).

Should I get it dynoed & go from there or just look at the plugs for a clue?

Assuming I'm right, a dyno run would be the best place to start. If it were me, I'd do it by trial and error but then I'm cheap. IMO plugs don't really tell you that much since there's 3 circuits to an SV's jetting- main jets, needles, and idle. It's perfectly possible to have one lean and another fine so the plugs don't neccesarily give you the whole story. That's definately just IMO though and not BASAT-compliant

Hmmm, one of the mags was talking about Dyno runs for ~£30 recently I think. Might have a look for the article.

Go on then, what's BASAT? All I can find is....
Department of Business, the Arts, Sport and Tourism (BASAT) ?

I've been looking out for a fellow SVer at Chiswick Park. Glad you're back on the road!
I normally ride mine in (baffle out) but it's poorly at the mo. Probably back on the road next week - (when I leave the company!)

Ah! How's it going? I'm only recently back on the bike but will be off it again when they operate on my collarbone. Joy.
Shame you're off, we've just set up a Chiswick Park Bikers yahoo group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ChiswickParkBikers/ , in an effort to get some kind of power behind our arguments with the CP management. They basically don't want to know about bikes & went a bit nuts when we got together in front of the lake for the photo for the group.
They were even weirder when we suggested that we might get all the bikes in the park together on Bike to Work Day (today).
Anyway, please spread the url around, we stuck some flyers on bikes last week & got a few people joining up.
Got to fight for the right etc.....

Haha! Excellent. I'll pass it on to the bikers here.
Rolling burn-out on the bridge maybe?
