Default False neutrals

Occassionally while riding I will hit a false neutral between 4th and 5th or 5th and 6th. I know the 2000 model was supposed to have a slightly dodgy gearbox, but is there and easier fix than fitting a K1 'box, or is it best just to live with it?

Live with it... They're often cause by the rider not quite engaging the gear during changes... RiDE reported a false neutral problem on the write up for my KTM, can't say I've experienced it, especially with my size 10's booting the shifter

Also check that your chain is correctly adjusted and lubed, and your gear lever linkage is adjusted and greased.

What Biker Biggles said

Also stick your boot under the lever and apply and little pressure to the lever to load it up before you change gear that helps to

yeah!
ive had that between 5th and 6th.
then the other day i got one between 3rd and 4th.

its just a case of trying to do it all too fast.

im sure weve all found neutral between 1st and 2nd and revved the balls of it!!!
its just this on a higher scale... id say no problem at all.

Don't pre-load yer lever!!! You'll nacker the selector and you'll end up finding even more false neutrals!!!

My K3 does it from time to time from 5th to 6th. I figured the problem was pilot error....

In 28k miles I must have had 300 false neutrals, mostly between 3&4 & 4&5.

I'm convinced that clutchless up-shifting is not greatly appreciated by the SV's gearbox.
