Which oil? - SV650.org

Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times before but I couldn't find the answer by searching - what is the standard oil spec for the SV650? I'm away from home (and my SV's manual) but she needs a fill-up. Thx in advance...

usually 10w-40 semi synthetic IIRC.

10W-40 with API SF/SG minimum quality.

SG is a pretty old spec (we're up to SM now - ie 5 upgrades). Loads of bog standard motor oils conform to this spec, but a lot of them have friction modifiers, which can affect your (wet) clutch perfromance. So if you want to play safe stick to a 4-stroke motorcycle specific oil.
