Default Alarms between bikes - aarrgghh!!!

Hi Guys,

I had my K4 Yellow SV written off last week and received money from the insurance and salvage that equalled what I paid for it - could have been worse.

I had to have a Datatool System 3 fitted to that one to bring my insurance down which cost me £300 from CN on the basis it would be much cheaper next year.

I have managed to get the salvage company to give me the alarm back and in order to get a decent price on my policy again for new bike (found one exactly the same, ) I need to get it fitted to the new bike.

However, it costs £90 to get it 'reloomed' by Datatool and another £90 to get it refitted! And I need to pay an adjustment fee for the insurance policy, so my insurance for this year is going to cost me £900 overall, rubbish!

Guess I need to count myself lucky I was neither injured nor financially robbed but its a bit of a sting.

Very pleased that I have found a new one though, a K4 in yellow on an '05 plate with only 750 miles on the clock that the dealers test instructor has been using.

Anyone else had their alarm 'reloomed' by Datatool?

Cheers for any replies,
Matt

Did you speak to datatool directly? Sounds odd, i looked at the way its fitted and there is nothing special to it.

Hi mate,

No I haven't spoken to Datatool directly - someone from Carole Nash is supposed to be ringing them and getting back to me today to say exactly what it will cost and the timescale to get it redone.

Apparently its cos all te wires coming out of the alarm are black so thieves don't know which ones to cut and the alarm has to go back to be re-wired in order for it to be fitted again.

Carole Nash then want £90 to send one of their guys to fit it again cos it 'has to be done by appoved person'

That is correct all the wires are black, but when it was taken from the old loom (asuming its still not attached to the old loom), the black wires should have been marked up to where they were connected so it could be installed easly again. If they left attached small bits of the coloured wire then looking at a wiring diagram it would be possable to work out what is what.

An aproved installer should possably be able to open the data tool and that way work out what wire is what.
