Default How quick should an '01 sv 650 s feel

Went for a test drive on a nive low mileage (6000km) curvy s last night, first one I've ridden. It felt quick, quicker than the cb500 I did my DAS on but not in a completely different league, is this about right?

Seemed pretty eager to rev all the way to the rev limiter (by accident!!) in third so guess it isn't limited, the dealer also claims it is full power.

It was much nimbler than the cb 500 and felt like a completely better bike.

Everything else on the bike seemed fine, brakes didn't stick, no rattly noises from the engine, smooth steering action etc.

The dealers over here offer a 12 mth warranty included, so guess I don't have too many issues to worry about.

So I'm definitely thinking of going for this bike, just wanted to check.

Sounds about right. I recently jumped on an r6 and thought "this is a bit faster, but not another league" right up to 100mph in 3rd - then 12,000rpm came. Oh my.

There's hardly such a thing as a slow motorbike above, maybe 250cc. Sure, by comparison with a GSXR1000 an SV's slower, but compared with 9/10 of all other road users an SV's outrageously fast, especially when you stay within the law. Anyone considering a 12 second quarter mile, sub-4 second 0-60 time slow is probably a jet pilot...

I'm sure some people find it slow- especially after trying faster tools- but I've never for a second felt mine is too slow, even when it was in stock trim.

I wish!

It stilll felt nippy, and the first few times I gave it full throttle it did suprise me a fair amount. I tried not to smile too much when I got back from the test drive as I didn't want the delaer to think I was that impressed (who am I trying to kid??)

I did my DAS on an ER-5, which I did go flat out through all the gears a few times.

When I got my SV I thought only 150cc more should be a little bit quicker, but not that much.

First time I red lined it every gear I thought I'd ripped a hole in the space time continum.

I cant wait to hear how you describe a test ride on an IL4 like a CBR when you get it in the powerband....

To me that was like being launched down the road and kind of like you described the SV. But way, way, way more faster than the SV does...

After riding an r6 a few days back i can totally relate. It's like a rubber band, it winds and winds itself up and as soon as the powerband comes in, where you'd normally kick another gear in the SV, it snaps and tries to rip off your head.

Silly fun but you're doing 130 before you know it which is stupid, not to mention illegal. I much prefer the SV in that regard as anything past 100 it starts to struggle.
