Moving washer on jets, Which way, up or down?
Help! am in middle of fitting restrictors to bike and remembered there was an option to move washer on jet to richen mixture to get rid of dreaded surging when cruising.
Was it up towards diaphragm or down towards pointy end of needle? Also, does it richen mixture when restrictors are fitted, piston type restrictor? Anybody help? |

down towards the point end of the needle.
Many people have said that this is not needed on uk bikes, expecialy if they are not tuned with dynojet kits/air filter and race exhaust system.

well surging is so annoying so thought would try it while carbs are off, but if restrictor is going to richen mixture ( I think it does that but not sure) would it richen it tooo much?

if you are using a slider restrictor (i had one) it does not alter the fuel mixture. The slider has an extra two holes in it that equalise the air a bit more on each side of the diaphram which in turn does not allow the slider to open all the way, if so the needle does not retract very far and so less fuel is passed into the airflow. Therefor its restricted.

Thanks for that TSM, I will lower the washers then and see if the surging has gone. Ah well, break over, back to the garage I go!
