Default I'm Damaged for Life... (well my knee is)

As some of you know I was involved in a little thing with a recovery company that ment my knee and bike got a bit damaged. Looks like I'm stuck with the damage to my knee for the rest of my life... theres more about it on my biking blog.
I've been told I could do surgery, but I'm thinking its a bad idea, can anyone else say the same?

Dan, when I come off of my SV about 3 years ago I twisted my knee very badly although I didn't realise it at the time. The consequence of which, as I'm getting on a bit (44) is that it unlikely that it wil ever heal properly and it is prone to twisting as the muscle and the tendons were stretched and so are not really strong enough.

This means no more football or skiing, but in day today life it isn't too bad unless I happen to catch my foot and twist it (ouch ). Just a case of getting used to the fact that you have a body that's not perfect.

I know you don't want to hear it, but it just one of those things you have to live with and move on. But I would certainly be trying to sort out some sort of compensation from the recovery company.

It'll get better in time dude (well it won't, but you'll get used to it, so it will feel like it's better )

.

ah ha, more recruits for the wonky knee gang

unless it stops you riding a bike you can only have temporary membership I'm afraid, and we'll 'kneed' some proof - there have been recent attempts to gain entrance to this exclusive club by a person with a sore toe

it's all part of getting old

At the moment it only causes me problems with stairs, ladders and carrying heavy objects, oh and I've been told I shouldn't knee on it. Which can be a problem in my work, also has a tendacey to ache in the cold to, long with my dodgy thumb. Luckily I have rather good muscle structure so I think that helps but I imagine it will get worse with age.

I have MRI scans of the damage, and I hurts when its cold so I don't like to go out on the bike then. Oh and when my physio did some work it did a nice impression of a bollon so I couldn't ride then.

What are the requirements to be in the Wonky Knee Club?

I have a slightly wonky knee from my accident where it was fractured across the patella, and still causes me intermittent pain...
