Default 2000 Model Back Brake

Anybody got any tips for bleeding the back brake? Mine is pretty crap even though I have repeatedly bled it. Everything that should move seems to, it’s just it seems to be very indirect compared to the front.

ARe you sure it is the brake that needs bleeding and not contaminated pads? If the lever feels firm when applied it may be this.

If it feels spongy it probably needs to be bled. Make sure that there are no leaks in the system. Hang a weight on the foot brake lever to pressurise the system and leave it over night. Check the hose and the banjos in the morning for signs of leakage. Also any air that is present in the system (if there aren't any leaks) will have risen to the reservoir making the brake firmer anyhow.

If there are no leaks and you do need to bleed the brakes, make sure that the reservoir is kept topped up at all times and pump the lever slowly.

Are you bleeding both nipples?

It's surprising how many people miss it.
