Default questions - about SV1000

hello,
I've a chance to change my SV650 (K3) with an SV1000 (K5) at a reasonable price.
I'm happy with my 650 and I wonder if it would be wise to go for the SV1000 or not.

The basic question: is the SV1000 less or more jerky than the SV650 ?

I make this question cause the only aspect I dislike of my SV650, is its jerkiness at low speed - low revs, that makes it a bit nervous and difficult to ride safely in small turns on slick asphalt.

Also, since I had no chances to ride a SV1000 till now, what the main differences in riding experience, compared with SV650?

I'm not sure what you mean by the same kind of power. I found the SV1000 (I own a k4 650 and have ridden a k3 1000) to be simply more of the same. The power was in the same places just more so. I also found it to be less jerky, but then, I'm used to a fairly maladjusted 650 (throttle bodies are badly in need of balancing)
I'll admit, and I think most sv1000 owners will as well, it doesn't turn in quite as quickly as a 650, but it's not an enormous difference. The extra stability of the suspension and damper makes it easier to just throw it into corners.

Personally, I would swap right now if I could afford it. I would have bought the thou in the first place, as I'd done a year on big enough bikes and would have liked something more powerful, but couldn't afford the insurance. Now the insurance is affordable but the bike isn't, and I've more or less wrecked my 650.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah you're right mate, the SV1000 is awful. Me and my fellow SV1000 owners are to be found every evening crying into our pints rueing the sorry day we ever decided to buy one.

So awful that after I tested one I decided to buy one.

Now it doesn't have the same power, it has more - quite a bit more. It is however still a 90 degree V twin, as such it has a obvious and clearly discernable similarities.

But you're right, cos it's not an SV650 it's not the same, who'da guessed?

PS No seams in the power, some chunks maybe, but no seams.

I went from a 650 to a thou 2 years ago.

If you are prepared to trade 'flickability' for awesome power, better suspension, a great sound, screaming acceleration, great brakes, easier wheelies and stoppies then do it.

If however you like riding a girls bike then stick with the 650

I changed up last year for a thou, and I've no regrets. Sure you lose some flickability on some corners (heavier than a 650), but you gain a load more power, torque, and it revs less at cruising speeds. (100 mph @ 5.5K revs).

You do have to watch the speedo a lot more though, as the feeling of speed is deceptive...

Get a test ride on one first, and you'll be laughing in your lid...

I know we now have a spelling checker on the forum, perhaps we could do with a bullsh*t checker as well

Personally I'd be more interested in how the SV1000 compares to a GSXR600 as thats what I will be agonising over when I upgrade.

I dare say they are both so much better than the SV650 that upgrading to either is a no brainer if you can afford it?

I want something a lot faster because my SV is weak at higher speeds and am not fussed about handling and brakes as I take it steady on the bends.

Am wondering whether the 1000 is useably a lot quicker than the GSXR? Is the 1000 held back a bit by the electronics in places to make it safer so that the performance over the 650 is not as great as it could be? That was a rumour a TL1000 owner told me at work?
