Braided hoses question
Just looking through the H-G catalogue as I am thinking of sticking some braide hoses on me SV.
Can anyone please tell me what the difference is between a normal front hose and a race one ? Thanks in advance. |

IIRC a race set up uses two hoses for the front, and gets rid of the splitter. The standard one replaces the lines for the OE lines - one from the master cylinder, splitter, then one to each caliper. I bought the race set up on ebay. So now I have two lines off the master cylinder to the calipers.

The race setup is easier to bleed properly. You'll need a double banjo for the master cyliner, but that should come in the kit.

The 1-2 way of doing things is, basically, rubbish. I've no idea why they keep on using it... Look at the SV. When you swap to a 2-line setup, you use slightly more hose, but 2 less banjos and bolts (and 3 less copper washers unless I miss my mark) You ca also dispense with the splitter thing. There are, to the best of my knowledge, no drawbacks at all... It's easier to bleed, and not so ugly either. I don't get why it's not the standard. But I'm sure someone's about to tell me
 Anyway. Don't buy a 3-line front, they're more expensive and less good.

I got a Goodridge kit off ebay a couple of weeks ago. About £55.
The banjo bolts were the wrong thread. 10x1 instead of 10x1.25. Really annoying as I had to buy some more and they are not machined out on the top like the Goodridge ones. Definately go for the two line set-up. |

bought a set of braided goodridge hoses at the ally pally show yesterday, cost me £52 in blue and posted to me too.
normal price being around £75 apparently. was bought off a good stand too, all they sold were brake parts. |
