Never ridden one, but I have ogled one from time to time. Strange but attractive bikes, as only BMW know how.

Those are mad fun! It was bonkers in a very relaxed fashion... BMW were having a demo day in Edinburgh and I spent most of the day riding the Rockster. It will put many of these on your face If you can get a test ride on one, go for it. They have been discontinued so you should be able to a get 2nd hand one for cheap here

they are great bikes as Scooby says but v-weird, the boxter engines always feel as if they could give so much more than they do, fast in a 'slow' feeling way... I prefered riding the R1100S to be honest, and was even thinking about buying one...

Yes. They're very good.

Many people seem to have a problem with Beemers, but I think this simply 'cos they're rather different to what might be considered 'mainstream' ie Jap bikes.

Try one, you might like it, if you're open minded enough that is.

Had one for 2 years.
Loved the suspension and the torque engine.
Hated the amount of oil it consumed and the over
powerful servoassisted brakes.
Quite expensive to service and the build qality was a
disapointment to me.
I exspected more from a high priced beamer
