Default sv and the rain

is it just me or do all sv's have trouble in the rain

the bike seems to just loose all power and cut out alot unless the choke is on full constantly.. but only in the wet

Do a search:

Fender extender/extenda.

Misfire/misfiring when wet.

Etc etc.

Like Sid said fit an extender, or a reverse gear that would work too!

Never had any indication of trouble in wet weather and I love riding in the wet on my SV650sK2. Now fitted fender extender but can't see the difference it makes. As far as I can see after my 160 miles on Sunday it makes very little difference. Probaly a fashion thing.
By the way I use Comma Cutain Cleaner for lorries. I use a pump up garden spray and it works the same way as Muck Off. Cost about £11 for 5 litres.

as already mentioned i don't think your experience in the wet is unusual. I have been riding my svs in all weather & no problems EXCEPT in torrential downpour when i got a misfire. Guess what I don't have a fender extenda. From reading other posts over then months it does seem that fenda extendas are a must to avoid this problem in the wet.

Nah, not a must. Silicon grease- the non-conducting stuff- splatches around the plug seal is evey bit as effective. Costs £2.99 for a tuibe that'll last for years. But an extenda is still a good thing to buy, helps protect the engine casings from impact and filth. A good thing with the SV's less-than-brilliant engine paint.

I'd say no, enough people have had wet weather running problems that fitting an FE is a well established, although not the sole, solution.
