Default How come they all look the same?

I find it amazing that almost all of the aftermatket cans for the SV look exactly the same. Not just similar, but exactly the same. If you take the manufactuers labels off them it's be virtually impossible to tell them apart.

The bands used aroud the ends of the can are either or two types. Slotted (oval slots) or non slotted. The exhausts outlets all look identical. The mounting brackets all look the same. Even the heat treated titanium cans are virtually identical!

Comparing Akrapovic, Quill, Termignoni, Jardine, Fuel, D&D, Two brothers, Scorpion, Arrow, Micron, Yoshimura, Leo Vince and a lot of others, it's as if they all buy their parts from one or two manufactuers.

There must be 500 ways to put a can together but somehow they all ended up using the same method?

Are they all (most/some?) made in a factory somewhere and rebadged for each "manufacturer"? I know this happens a lot in other industries. Is it the same for exhausts?

cheers,
Carl

Dunno about the ones you list, but my Renegades were different. They had an internal bolt system to hold the end caps in place.

I'm having a similar problem sourcing a decent set of cans for my Viffer, they all look the same - and quite pants too.

Micron are different too, they use a different end-cap system than any other manufacturer. Arrow's end caps are different, and the welds are pretty distinctive. It's only when you get down to the bottom end of the market that they're more or less identical, because they all use the same parts. But at the end of the day, it's a pipe with holes in, wrapped in baffling material, with a cap on each end and a sleeve around it. How different do you expect them to look?
