Default MOT & legal requirement issues

What is the legal requirements in regard to 'idiot' lights?

I know if you can't see your indy's flash from the riders seat then you need either a dash light or audible buzzer.

Neutral - Is it a requirement?
Main Beam - same?
Speedo clock illumination?

I have an MOT guide but none of these are mentioned. It might mean they are a standard legal requirement, and therefore must work to pass it.

Oh and before some smartass (they have been spotted on this forum!) suggests daylight only MOT, I want to use it at night.

Oh life is hard and complicated.....

....I always said the bridge was a bad thing, never mind making it free.

MOTs were never such a hassle in the good old days. "Aye but the mannie from the ministry will be back on the mainland in the morn".

Not knowing the answers mate, I just had to make (smart) comments.

Cheers,
Garry

I read on OSS a while back that they're not an MOT requirement but they are a roadworthiness requirement- in other words, you can pass your test then get pulled by the police, issued a rectifier which you take back to your testing station, swho confirm the bike's totally MOT-standard, sign off your rectifier, off you go and get stopped again Just like loud cans vs e-marks.

As far as lights are concerned, they must be in working order i.e.main beam/dip and adjusted Indicators must have a visual, but in general terms all the things you have mentioned come under "roadworthyness" and any examiner would be cagey because of the comebacks and him loosing his certification

You can still get away with no MOT in places like Barra and South Uist i believe. But I'm not moving there to avoid this problem, that's several steps too far.
You're talking proper, proper, back of beyond, other side of the hill, take a flat cut punt across the water, tackle the peat bog of death and fall of the cliff never to be seen again type of out of the wayyyyyyyyy.

Thanks for the help guyz. Having realised I have all the wiring in existance but not in use, I might as well hook up a trick LED dash design somehow. More details in the distant future.
