Default MPG

Bit of a boring question, but what MPG do you get out of your SV650? State if it is a FI or carb.

Mine is doing about 41-44 mpg on my daily commute; I think that is pretty poor really.

Why are V-Twins so inefficient?

We have a carbed SV.

Get about 50 mpg if we pootle(which we don't do very often)

Get about 40 mpg otherwise.

We reckon to get about 100 miles per tenner's worth of petrol.

Have had two Fuel injected SV's and both return 50-60mpg depending on how I ride.

Engines give best economy when nice and hot...best conditions.

On cold mornings like these...cold startups...mpg takes a beating.

worse if you cane it too...

Yeah. Its less than 0C here at the moment. I burn off a load just trying to warm her up twice a day. I end up getting only about 110 miles for a tank. Thats about 40 mpg i suppose.

Carbed.

50 - 55 mpg

Only get 50 if the engine is made to overev all the way down the motorway in top gear

Fuel Injected K5.

140 miles to about £10.00 = 2.5 gallon approx. = 55 mpg.

Not bad I thought, although I am not hammering it and it is still
restricted to 33 bhp.

I've just done my first full tank of go juice.... 116 miles before the light came on. K5 naked, fully stock.

However, I use the gearbox a lot (which is not fuel efficient) and it's virtually all been commuting. That said, I'm still running it in so haven't gone much above 5k (honest guv ) so I'm a bit surprised it came on so early....

I work to the roughly 100 miles per £10. I usually ride reasonably hard though. I've had as much as 145 miles before the light came on when for an experiment I rode a lot more calmly.
