Default Stopping tank damage on my sv

Fitted a tank protector , however noticed paint is started to wear on tank itself from where legs rub tank

Any one recommend any clear tank protector sheets that I can cut to protect tank

on m&p got clear sheet for 6.99 ?

cheers Steve

My advise regarding stopping scratches on your tank: Don't park in your work car park where dishonest delivery men will swing their van doors into the tank of your bike, gouging the paint badly and then not owning up to it.

Seriously though, a quick visual check of the bottom of a tank bag each time before you fit it (to ensure it's clean) and regular waxing of the tank will help eliminate smaller scratches. Still doesn't stop delivery men though.

I've got these

http://www.thetankslapper.biz/online...store/main.htm

They have various kits for the SV. You would think that it would peel off but it's stuck very hard indeed! Seems to do a good job.

The paint on my tank already looks dull and scuffed. Suzuki must use poster paints. I'm pretty appaled tbh. Will invest in baglux me thinks.

sorry but it simply can't be done if you ride the bike. It's like trying to stop door dings in your car doors, it simply can't be done unless you never use it.

Someone told me the tanks on K3 onwards bikes aren't clearcoated... Nooooo idea if that's true. But it is prety rubbish. Much better on older bikes IMO, mine was in nicer nick after 20,000 miles than some new ones I've seen after just a few.

I've got a set of Tankslappers here, looks decent but I've never tried them yet. Those Stomp things, is it Stompgrips? They have the same effect and tank-gripping riders love them. There's Ultrashield, I think they do an SV kit now, or you can buy their stuff in sheets- it's thinner and more flexible than the heavier clear stuff you usualyl see in the shops. Again, got some but not tried it.

I find this surprising!

My K3 had a tank protector on it as I had a metal zip on my old jacket and I didn't want it scratching the tank but the tank is still in excellent condition, nothing wrong with the paint at all and that SV certainly did a lot of miles.

My K5 paint work is very dull around the areas where your trousers rub, it has done 10,500 miles but it started looking rough after only about 1000. I never did any thing to stop it i just polish it every once in a while.

I used a baglux cover on my sv (Mainly because of the tankbag though). Stops a whole host of nasty scratches and even cushions some small dings.
