Right, I just bought a new chain/sprocket set...
I bought it from hein Gericke, it cost £101 all in.... thats for 2 sprockets and a chain.... prices will probably differ rear sprockets easy to change, take rear wheel off, undo bolts, plonk on new one... front sprocket needs a bit more work. Im having the garage do mine now, as I almost tipped the bike over trying to wrench the bugger off! You will probably also need a new washer for the front sprocket as well, you put it on, tighten the nut, and bend it over the nut then so it cant undo itself. As for chains, you will need to split the old one and get that off... or if you want, dremmel the critter off! new chain, you will have a rivet link... this is where that tool is needed.. and they aint cheap.... again, garage is doing mine, as I wont trust myself with that! ![]() With above questions, replace sprockets and chain at the same time.. I wont mind giving a hand, but i will be learning at the same time.. and also have people to phone for advice if it goes FUBAR! ![]() Do you have a rear paddock stand ? as you will need to take the rear wheel off... Ohh, you may want to do some reasearch into what sprockets etc you want.. as original ones are rather expensive.... Renthal are what ive ended up with... and have a look at the toothing.. make sure you have the right sprockets and chain length |

Busters were doing a suitable c+s set for around 90 quid plus postage. Give 'em a bell and see if they can help.

From what I know, it's a false economy to replace chain & sprockets separately: one will just destroy the other.
As for fitting them yourself, I would be inclined to get it done professionally, especially if you've an endless chain, which is likely. |
