Default Making my SV650-SK4 More Comfortable

Hi All

I've had my S for 8 months now, and having done 4000m and my first track-day (Mallory on Good Friday ) it's time to make my bike a little more comfortable for daily commuting, and for carrying a pillion.

First up, the riding position. After riding a Bee-Emm-Troubleyou R1200GS, my bike felt really small and sporty. I'd like to bring the bars up and back a bit, and if possible lower the pegs a bit too. Don't want to lose the fairing though. But here's the rub: I want to be able to return it to standard, so that when I sell it one day I don't affect the resale value too badly. Any suggestions? Are the naked SV peg hangers any lower, and where can I get some cheap?

Pillion seat - is the Corbin any good? I saw another thread about the Bagster from Baglux - it looks, errm, how can I put this, a bit like a horse saddle with a pillion bit tacked on. Anyone have any experience of these?

I also want a bit more wind protection. From reading the forum, Fabri double bubbles seem good - anyone recommend something else?

My OE tyres have plenty of tread left, but the sides look very ragged after the trackday . As I'm not planning any more trackdays soon (my wife saw me outbrake myself at the chicane - I'm now grounded!) is the BT020 a suitable replacement?

In the longer term, I want to uprate the front and rear suspension. Again, reading various posts I've pretty much decided on progressive springs and RaceTech emulators up front. Any suggestions for the rear? Somebody says GSXR600 shock - is that a straight swap?

Thanks for your time, maybe I should have made separate posts for each query...

Mark.

I've got the Corbin front seat. It's a million times more comfortable than that foam brick that comes stock. It's also about 2 inches lower in the butt, so the hand grips actually seem more standardish. My only complaint is that the 2 inch lower position causes your knees to bend a little more 'cuz the pegs are effectively two inches higher than before. I wouldn't mind that at all if I could figure out a way to mount highway pegs on this thing.

Anybody tried to mount highway pegs??

i,ve got emulators in my curvy and when i first fitted them i had progressive springs which i didn,t like with the emulators so i swapped to linear springs which imo work better. i have a gel seat which is slightly better but as i am off to italy next month i,ve bought an airhawk strap on and will let you know what its like. as for the highway pegs, well i have fitted some to mine which i only use on long trips of several hundred miles. for the rhs i used a st/st exhaust clamp to make a bracket to take the pillion footrest and fitted it by the join to the can i,ve fitted and for the lhs i made a st/st bracket shaped like a boomerang and fitted using the heel plate bolts. this was also made to take the pillion footrest. they both pivot out of the way for the twisties and DON,T touch down but are great on the motorway especially if you lie on the tankbag. these brackets put my feet about 50mm lower and 50mm further back. if i wasn,t a tecnophobe i,d post pictures

How'd you mount your highway pegs? Did you have them made custom or did you buy them?

adjustable rear set plates will lower the pegs no idea about the seat i think its fine bars get yourself a top yoke conversion with flat bars ive seen them on e bay quite cheap and get the pilion a non slip seat cover as for the screen look at the mra touring screen or the suzuki aftermarket one double bubble screens just buffet the air over you and straight into the pillion
