Default Ordered my Bike!!!

Ordered it this morning after MONTHS of deliberation and planning... woo hoo. Passed DAS in march, this is my first bike!!!

Red SV650S with R&G's and Datatool System 4 alarm. (£472

Also got a Shoei Raid 2 helmet, Sidi boots and some Frank thomas textile trousers to match my jacket.

Bunch of flowers for my mother because I know she's worried "...so what do you want us to do if the worst happens, switch the machine off?" makes me feel guilty, but i've lusted after a bike for ages so I'll just have to be as safe as possible!!

Going on holiday next sunday for a week, so bike will be ready for collection the day after we get back!!

Exciting exciting!!

Running in period is a pain in the rear but it gives you time to evaluate what you have bought.

should do 72mph while running-in in top so hardly a biggie. I remember my GPz only did 55mph so that was a nightmare

I suppose it gives you a nice period to get used to the bike before full power can be used!

What are the rules for running in, specific rev limit? I don't think i'll be taking the "thrash it" approach, I'd rather have the engine last and loose 2 bhp tbh!

It should all be explained by your nice dealer types...clutch in remember

up to 5000 revs until 500 miles...72mph tops.

up to 7500 revs until 1000 miles....fast enough.

The SV revs quickly for a twin so it is impossible to stick to these limits.

Now setting the digi dash...that is for rocket scientists only I'm afraid Needs manual and watchmaker hands.

Enjoy!

I don't know if you still live with your mother and she'll be walking up and down worryng until you return but a technigue I use with my wife who wasn't overjoyed when I got back into biking is to ring her to tell her I've arrived safely etc., scores a few points and in my experience mothers are worse than wives on this one...

Anyway have fun... safely!

Oh yes mothers are much worse than wives as the wife tends to be the beneficiary of the life insurance.

Heh unfortunatley still at home, sad isnt it. (i feel like i must excuse myself... got a job in my home town after uni, Mrs is moving down in summer when her job here starts and then we'll get our own place. stuck at home until july.)

Good advice though, will do that.
