Default I DID NEED HELP ASAP!!! - but i think its under control!

i am at college and i have a problem with my sv!

it is rattling badly on the front cylinder it slowly got worse as yesterday went on (may day run) . i first thought it could be the shimms. so i asked my teacher at college (where i am doing a motorcycle engeering course) and he thought it could be the cam chain tensioner. so i took off the tank and the air box and took the cam chain tensioner off and cleaned it and put it back on and ran the bike up! and no difference! so i am now on my lunch break asking if anyone has had a similar problem with their sv, when i get back i will check the shimms and the condition of the chain ect.

its a k4 naked with 17557 miles, its standered apart from the 33bhp ecu!

it rides fine but is noisy!

if you have anything to help please let me know!

cheers
tom (now in panic mode!)

could there be muck in the hole stopping the cct (cam chain tensioner) extending.

when it was out the bike bike it was working fine (tho i did park it by the sea yesterday!!)

if the tensioner is working correctly , and you still have a very noisy chain my only guess would be the cam chain guides are either worn or out of place.

i would be difficult for one to be dislodged , but i suppose not impossible.

you haven't run it low on oil have ya ? as accellerated wear on the chain is another possible option.

I would concentrate on the tensioner and make sure it is applying pressure correctly. there are the service manuals available online i am sure this will give you some pointers about the tensioner.
