Firstly big thanks to Ed (formally Sythree) for the card he send which i recived today, it was sent to the hospital but im now at home so probably took a while to get to me!!! In return i thought i would show my progress to you all to show i am getting better!!! Thanks to anyone that have shown concern for my crash aswell. Ive also got £2k for a new bike now YAY!!!
Well had an appointment with the doctor monday at 10.10am in hastings which is about an hour as we managed to go though every village in the way ![]() ![]() The 5 week old cast i had, very big and not fun to live with, lots of BCFers signed it ![]() Cast again, more BCF names ![]() we saw the consultant and tell me to get cast off and have a x-ray on my pelvis and arm. so off we went and had the cast off at long last and revealed two HUGH scars, im sure a doctor or nurse told me there wasnt going to be any scars but they were clearly lying and was a bit shocked what i saw, but chicks dig scars 8o) so not all bad!! they had 18 staples in 1 and 14 in the other. When i saw them i did what any normal person does and got the camera phone out and started taking pics!! ![]() Scar on inside my arm (14 staples) ![]() Scar outside my arm (18 staples) ![]() The doctor that took it off was the guy that put in on and was cool and we were talking about what he should trade his Z1000 in for. i said it had to be GSXR1000K6 ![]() Old cast ![]() Then he took all 32 staples out 8O suprisingly it didnt really hurt all that much which was good as had enough to take out!! Taking them out ![]() no staples ![]() Then i spoke to the doctor some more and basically said that my x-rays showed i need the pelvis stucture on for ANOTHER 5 weeks (10 weeks total) which sucks as thought it would be less than that and so did he ![]() new cast, much more mobile now and can type with both hands!! ![]() well thought id share it with you all as bored and think the scars are quite impressive!! :P tell me what you think! |

Looks like you're healing well Andy
![]() Those staple scars fade over time, but they always have that zipper look about them. |

Did they tell you about the scar massaging tricks etc? Can't do it when you're in a case obviously, but it can help reducing scars over time. That scar reduction gel you can buy in Boots seems to work too, though not as well as it claims (I'm 10 stone of scar tissue
![]() Or you could just leave them, because scars look ded ard. Glad to hear you're mending, though it's a bummer about the pelvis- I remember going into orthopedics expecting to be told "Lay down your crutches and WALK, brotha!" only to be told "Another 2 months"

I don't know if it works on real old ones... My hands are covered with shallow scars, I scar easy for some reason, and it's calmed them down. It did a lot for the surgery scar on my hip, it's still there, and it's not going away, but it's softer and more flexible, which means it doesn't pull or hurt as much.

Ouch!
Looks like good progress mate. 'Chicks dig scars' is a good attitude to have! ![]() Anyway, best wishes for a speedy recovery. P.

Oh and I meant to say...
...there is some sort of oil you can get for helping minimise scarring. I think it is high in vitamin E. Boots should have some or at least be able to advise. P.
