Default Impromptu trip to Ft. William/Glenfinnan

After a visit from my sister and a mate on a zx6r over the weekend, I joined them on part of the return journey to Greenock yesterday. I decided to take a donder down to the rain capital of the UK that is Fort William. Despite a good drenching along the way it was at least dry in the town.

Stuffed our faces in MacTavishes and waved goodbye from there. As I had camping gear I took the opportunity to redo the Mallaig route home stopping in Glenfinnan for the night. Got at least some stuff on camera before the batteries died. The photo's were all taken in breaks from the downpours.

Set up camp and headed to the local pub. Glenfinnan Country House Hotel no less. Did we feel out of place? Erm, yes. Toffs and bikers are a breed apart. Good laugh all the same, decent grub and fairly cheap beer.

Friends round for breakfast: couple of red deer when I opened the tent.

Hogwarts Express was running late today!

And to top it off a view from the monument to B.P.C. and his mates.

The only downer was that the ferry wasn't running so I missed the twisties this time. Ended up going back via Ft. William and Glengarry, another bikers nirvana route, so no problem really.

A long while since I have been there, stayed at a place just up from the memorial called "The Princes House" I don't know if it is still there. But on our final night I said to the missus as we ate in the restaurant with the obligatory Monarch of the Glen that it would have been nice to have seen a stag or two when one appeared on the car park.

Damm camera was in the boot of the car so never got the photo. But boy is it beautiful country round there the road to the isles up to Mallaig looked like it was laid for bikes.
