Default Big rideout?

A topic of conversation at the AR was having another big rideout up here just as we did last year with the Irish and Essex boys... I could be wrong, but I think Matt offered to put up his garden again for a post-ride BBQ etc, and there seemed to be a fair few people keen on the idea- but we're going to need to get a shift on if we're going to do it... Late august would probably be the best bet, anything sooner is too soon, anything later too wet!

Personally, I'm all loved up after the AR and I reckon we should definately try and get a few more visitors up. What do you reckon?

The more the merrier - both rideouts and punters attending same. Like I say, the work doesn't currently allow me to plan my life in advance but if I'm not working I'll be there.

Right then, weekend of the 19th or weekend of the 12th... (I'm counting out the bank holiday, too many folks will have plans then) seem like the best bets. Either that, or right at the start of september, but we don't want to go too late.

We did Glencoe last year, it's got to be a decent length ride... I'm out of inspiration right now. Get your suggestions in! It'd make sense to start out of one of the big cities, much easier for people to get to and get accomodation for. Best I can manage just now is Doune/Callander (Duke's Pass? Could loop it with the A81 back to Callander?) Lochearnhead, then either- right along Loch Earn to Comrie, then there's all manner of options to loop it back down to Stirling...

Or alternatively, after Lochearnhead, there's plenty of opportunities to go west... I don't know the roads over there so well (where the hell is the Wibbly Wonnly? I think I rode past the end of it ages ago) so if we're thinking of a western route, someone else needs to do the thinking

What about my mega long route that took all day and ended up back at Matt's house for the BBQ?? Everybody agreed that was a cracker of a run up the far western roads you could get. Even the Irish and Essex boys were quite happy with the route. I've still got the route map on my laptop.

Start Balloch car park, end up at Matt's house for beers and a BBQ. It was a good day out.

Sod it - I drive the Tayside roads with the truck damn near everyday now, so I know most of the good back roads that you can literally "fly" along. Lets get a big August rideout that involves going over the Dukes Pass to Crieff then into some of Tayside's excellent back scratching roads, and ending up at a Dundee member's house for a BBQ?? Upset the neighbours bigtime with a load of v-twins

That'd be a good day out, and different scenery. I'll try out a route, post it up, and see what other people think.

Last year's route was spot on I thought... Don't think we should repeat it but for the bnumber of bikes it was a good length, good mix of roads. The AR was much shorter but then it was much slower roads for a lot of it, and a lot more bikes.

Hmm. Been thinking about this a little... I'm thinking maybe it's too short notice? People'll want warning to get time off work, book hotels or b&bs etc- I'm thinking we really need to have a date and a route within a day or two to make it doable, and it's still short notice. Might be better to do it "properly" next year?

I'm going to pop a quick post up in Rideouts and Meetings, just to do some quick gauging of opinions.
