Now that I have your attention maybe I could infringe on your advice too
![]() Bought a CCC end can and fitted it as per instructions but there is quite a bit of blowing coming from the second clip (nearest the can). New to all this can thing I was shocked to notice the instructions didn't mention anything to do with sealant paste for the pipes. Is this the reason for her blowing? |

I have always used standard B&Q clear silicant sealant on joints in my cans which has always worked perfectly - no need to use anything more expensive than that IMHO.

See the clip that they give you? That fits the exhaust onto the link pipe?
Well...tighten it....then tighten it...then get a bigger ratchet with the same socket size and tighten it again. And no....I'm not kidding at all. It works. ![]() |

Pingu,
I had the exact same problem as you! And posted a thread regarding it somewhere on here. I've run it now for about 500 miles and it's sealed itself. I did tighten it as instigator suggests, but there comes a point where you're gonna strip the thread on the clamps, so be careful! Mine had a very fine water mist on it which I put down to damp packing in the can itself. That stopped after about 50 miles, obviously hot gases dry things off. Mine still does have a small amount of carbon build up around clamp, but nothing that can't be wiped off occasionally. I put it down to the link pipe having a notch/split in it, that's were it seems to leak no matter how tight you do the bolt up. MattSV has a good idea by the sounds of it, clear silicon, I may try that myself. Obviously when it's cold! ![]() See here: http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.ph...hlight=#506864 |

I recently fitted a CCC end can to mine and it was blowing slightly from the same area, removed the can a put a bit of clear sealant around the joint refitted the can and it's been fine since.

yes silicone sealent then take it for a ride then tighten the clamp up again when its still hot otherwise dont worry about it your not going to lose power with just a slip on
