Default Weird Problem

Ok, bear with me here as I explain this.

When I leave to catch my train around 6.30am in the mornings, when I wheel the bike out onto the road its really hard to do so. Last time I had this, I came off shortly after due to it being the dust seals going and the brakes binding on.

Straightforward so far. Now heres the weird bit, if it was the brakes binding on Id expect it all the time. Or is that not the case?

Because when I wheel the bike out the parking bay at the station at around 6pm it wheels back freely.

Ive checked the tyre pressures and theyre ok. It feels like binding brakes but as said Id have expected that to be a problem in the evening as well as the morning.

Any ideas? Other than its going to workshop first thing Saturday am.

Could easily be the clutch/gearbox providing a little drag which makes freewheeling the bike (even in neutral and with the clutch pulled in) a little harder than you'd expect. Mine certainly is like it sometimes.

I reckon it is slightly binding brakes.Possibly due to dirty pistons, but did I understand correctly that it only does it when you push the bike forwards and not when you reverse it?That could be due to a wear pattern of the pads.If they wear slightly "off square"then you get an angled pad against the disc. This can cause extra resistance.I've only ever seen this the other way round though, such that the brake binds heavily when pushing the bike backwards.

Sorry I should have made that clearer. Both times the bike is being wheeled backwards and then forwards a bit.

In the morning its a pain doing both directions, in the evening it isnt.

Need to get it up on a stand and spin the wheels in both directions. That might give a clue where the problem is.I take it the bike is completely cold at both locations?

If your not sure - take it to a mechanic. Sounds like sticky caliper pistons. Is the bike parked up longer at home overnight than it is at the station? When was the last time the pads were replaced?
