Any one have any experience of these, i looked at one today while i was in a bike shop looking for something else.
Ended up talking to the sales guy and I'm taken it out for a spin on Saturday. Strange really because before today i did not really think about owning such a bike but it just looking fantastic just parked there amongst the modern sports bikes. |

I borrowed one whilst my Speed Triple was in for a service. They're great looking bikes and get a lot of attention. I was even getting the
![]() It's got reasonable power, though nothing like a modern sports bike. The main downside, at least for me, was that it was uncomfortable. After an hour of riding I couldn't wait to get off it. I think that this was because of the low clip-on bars. I've been told that you can replace these with higher bars which might help with the comfort. The other strange thing was a (temperature?) warning light that kept coming on, even at normal riding speeds. I forgot to ask the dealer about it. I can't really offer any other advice than to see what you think on the test ride. There's a lot to like about it and you might not have the same comfort issues as I did. |

what do you want to know? ive rode my mates alot, hes only just sold it for a buell firebolt.

classic looks are good, single front disk brake does its job well, fast enuf, feels very smooth for a twin not like an sv at all, built well, the only down side i found to the thruxton is its 4 stone heavy'r than the sv.

it doesnt have a tool kit which i think was strange nor is there any storage space under the seat, the standard exhausts are poo so it needs some thruxton cup track pipes on it @£300 makes it sound british! lots of people do ask who restored it

resale value is poor prob because you love or hate them, a new one is 6k i think and 18 months on it was sold for 3.7k!! most places were offering around the 3k mark part x.

Could you use it every day or just as a weekend toy
I love my SV but lately i have found myself looking at other bikes, I'm a bit all over the place really, one minute its a blackbird then an 03 fireblade, ZX6, Fazer 6 and now im test riding a Thruxton! The crazy thing is i really cant afford another bike right now, mad huh ![]() Still no harm in a test ride is there ![]() |

it would be a good everyday bike, i found the riding position simaliar to my sk3.
how do you find your sv for power? the thruxton isnt as quick as the sv its weight holds it back. |

it is very good handling tho, fast steering in the corners very much like an sv. personaly i like the lumpyness of the sv which the thrux hasnt got.

I really like the sv although sometimes i wish i had more power but then i think if i had more power i would get my self in trouble
I'm bad enough on the SV, commuting to London on the M25 the other morning playing around with an Audi 125 on the clock, really stupid, felt like a prat when i got to my destination but did a similar thing on the M1 yesterday evening so the idea is the Thruxton or similar might slow me down or at least put an end to my 100+ speeds and i might be able to hold on to my licence. Also looked at the Z750 with laser pipes which i really liked the look of. |
