Default Funny smell -

Hi Folks,

On the way home last night, and noticed a really odd smell coming from the engine area.
So I immediately stopped, the smell was like a rubbery smell, or the kind of smell from when the water is overheating

Now i check the oil levels on this thing every day, after the last fook up.
So it's not the oil.

Had the same sort of smell this morning too, when I started it ?

The only thing I can think of, is that it was rather wet all the way home yesterday, in fact I got drenched, but hey ho! hardcore!

I've checked for holes in the Rad - can't see anything, but then, you'd need a rubber neck to see anything.

The temperature on the dials is running between 80 and 92, when she's been running for a while. KNowing that I do roughly 180 miles a day.

Any ideas anyone? where can i check the coolant levels?

Cheers - Mass

Also due to the nakedness, rain water tends to collect in the front of the radiator. When you stop and put the bike on its stand, it pours out. First time this happened to me (coupled with burning smell) I thought my radiator was f***ed!

For ref anyway though, coolant level can be checked on the reservoir on the left side of the bike (as you sit on it), just behind the frame. (well for pointy's - not sure if it's the same on curvy's)

Actually it is much easier to check it when you are NOT sitting on it

Cheers Luke,

Just been out to check her, yep the coolant level's are good, right on the F.
Oil level is good

Must be the crud n stuff off the road, funny you mentioned the fact that when you stop and put her on the stand, you see a load of, what looks like, boiling water pi$$ing out. Yep had the twitchy bum too when I saw that.

Thanks again
