Hi all,
I've just stripped down my front forks, with the help of a good mate, and found nothing wrong with the springs, damper rod, or the rebound spring. After rebuilding them again, the noise that made me do it in the first place is still there. Note this is def not a knocking noise, more like a springy scrape/crunch?! We didn't go as far as stripping down the various fork and dust seals, as everything looked relatively clean and tidy (and didnt have replacement bits that were required anyway). The springs had no noticeable marks on them (< 12 month old ohlins), though the damper rod ring appeared to have a small chip (< 1mm in size) at the split point. Could someone with a curvy sv650 tell me whether or not their forks emit a sort of crunchy springy noise at near full compression? Mines is an oldish bike, at year 2000. If not, anyone got a pointer as to what to try next? Cheers, Steve |

They all do it even the newer one I fitted progressive springs and 15w oil but still get a clunk under hard braking on uneven roads!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers for your reply Billy - I grabbed a bloke at work with a 3 year old sv1000s and his seems to make a similar, albeit much quieter version of the same noise so i'm less inclined to worry about it now
