Default BMW 800s test ride

Tried the BMW Tuesday nice bike, fast, good road holing, clunky transmission, viby when accellerating and I was pleasently surprised that the SV felt really good when I rode home and made me appreciate what I have.

As road test reports go, they don't come much shorter .

I've just bought a BMW to keep my SV company - a 1977 R100S. Now, where's my favourite pipe gone? Oh look, here it is, in the pocket of my cardie.

Sounds good to me...rode the BM...had a laugh went home on a SV and thought it was better.

Sums it up nicely.

I could expand but didn't want to bore you. Just making the point that the SV is very good and and a lot cheaper. The money saved could buy a lot of goodies to tailor the SV to your style of riding.

That's a fair point, if moving from a Sv you really want to trade up or it's kinda pointless exercise. Choosing another budget class bike may leave you sorry you're not still on a SV...

Having just read your review I hadn't taken into account the cost of all the extras I was riding as well which made it £3000 more than the SV, it gets worse.
Now I would like a ride of the Honda CB100F, KTM Adventurer if I can find a step ladder to get on it and a Honda Deauville and I bet they are not that much better than the SV so as to make me want to spend the extra money. If it ain't broke don't fix it come to mind. but trying things on for size can't do that much harm. Can it?

You'll find that a bit slow..............

I've riden the CBF1000S and it's a really good bike, especially at that price. You should also the CB900F Hornet - more "go" and more "attitude"

I'm trying to blag a test ride on the new BMW R1200S as that looks like it might be a great bike.......but they wouldn't let have one for the whole of this coming weekend
