Nail in my tyre
Hiya peeps
I just want a bit of advice as to what to do. a work mate pointed the nail out to me as i was about to leave work, i had to get home so rode anyway (carefully) and didn't have any problems, so what should i do? 1. buy some ultra seal, pull the nail out and see what happens 2. buy a new tyre, which wouldn't be a bad thing as i still have the dunlops on which don't fill me with confidence, but i had to renew my insurance this month so cash is a bit tight. 3. get it repaired, I've never had a bike tyre repaired before and thought it was kinda a no no as we only have 2 they need to be in A1 condition, but what kind if results have other had with repairs/plugs. how much does it cost / last etc heres a couple of pics sorry about the quality taken with my mobile.   tia |

Personally wouldn't use the foam stuff but you should be able to get it repaired no problem. Some tyre companies don't recomend it but they're trying to sell tyres aren't they? Never had a puncture (there's tempting fate
 ) but i'd be happy with a professional repair.

Never had a problem with a plugged tyre ( done by bike shop ) about a tenner , way cheaper than a new tyre .
Depends how much tread you have got on the tyre if its down to 2mm I would not bother . Cheers Steve

in my bridgestone tyre book it says and i qote....'no repairs are permited above V speed rating(150mph)in accordance with BSAU159f' there you go folks....
want cheap tyres... ask me

vulcanised repair(mushroom type) no prob's, ive had mine repaired and its fine, its about £10 to a loose wheel.

seem to have plenty left in the tyre so plug it for now and change them after a bit more use, the Dunlops will be Ok for the summer.

Ditto situation.
I ultrasealed my road attack rear when I found a nail pulled the nail out and had a flat tyre for days! Though mine was nearer the shoulder than yours. Took the tyre to Strathern Tyres for puncture repair and basically got told that they could do it but weren't happy to do it because they didn't know how long it would last or if it wd be particularly safe. Got told if was nearer the centre then plugging it would be no problem. Long winded answer for saying get it plugged and don't use ultraseal it doesn't work! (or it didn't on mine) |

Get it repaired there's nothing wrong with getting it plugged!!!!!!!!

I plug mine myself using a crafty plugger , forget about it and it lasts the lifetime of the tyre but that's just me :P

get it repaired mate, no point shelling out for a new tyre when you dont need to.
