Default Probably a stupid question but...

newbie so please excuse my ignorance.
I was thinking of getting an iridium visor and had a couple of questions.
1. are they tinted? obviously they are coulored but do they actually reduce light glare?
2. If they are tinted are they ok at night?
3. Are they road legal?
Thanks.

Quick answer:
1. Yes
2. No
3. No

Longer answer:
I've had two iridium visors on different lids. The Roof one was very dark and only really suitable for very bright conditions. You couldn't see through it at all at night.
My Shoei iridium is only lightly tinted. It's still not road legal, but might be light enough to persuade a copper that it's not a 'dark' visor. I've never been pulled whlst wearing one and don't think that most cops are too bothered by them. I wouldn't use one at night and have found that in daylight they make car indicators harder to see. I always carry a clear visor when I'm using one.

I've read somewhere that the coating needs care when cleaning, but that might be a load of old bull.

As for being pulled by a copper, my experience of wearing a naughty black visor for the last few months is that they won't bother for that alone. It will be the same for an iridium one as well.

Try a black visor first perhaps?

If there's any chance that you could get caught out at dusk or in the rain then carry a spare clear one with you. You can get carriers for them which strap round your waist.
