Default BUGGER! SV 650 s News :(

Hi Everyone,

Sad news! My sv got knocked off it's side stand in the car park at work by a reversing car, thank fully the person told me they had done it. The bike has been through insurance and has been written off!!

The bike is rideable so I can't believe they have written it off! There are a few scuffs and a crack in the front side fairing, indicator scuffed and bar end scuffed, worst damage is to the gear lever, it is bent in slightly and a very light bend in the gear linkage bar- -still works fine though. also a very slight dint in the edge of the tank.

They have offered me less than it's worth - SUPRISE! So I would consider selling the bike too. Anyone intersted? Offers please.

It's a blue curvy 53 reg K2, 12k on the clocks, dealership serviced till 7k, serviced by myself since then. MOT and TAXED for a few months yet - not sure exactly how much off the top of my head. It's completely standard except it also comes with colour matched seat pod.

If you are gonna offer me peanuts then don't bother - I need the cash or I won't be able to afford a decent replacement. However I will consider all fair offers. If I get a load of ridiculous ones then I will simply repair it - probably cost me a £200 - maybe £250 at a push for mint parts and sell it then for nearer it's true value in a few weeks.

Remeber it only fell off it's side stand, so there will be no nasty damage.

Sorry to hear this. Insurance companies will tend to offer you less than it's worth, but you can often haggle with them.

If the bike is written off, you should be able to buy the bike back off the insurers and repair it yourself. Others on here should be able to advise about that.

How much did they offer you for it. Haggle, find prices on biketrader or MCN for similar bikes. Age, year condition etc. If the price your insurance company have offered you contest it. Send them a polite letter with a copy of the adverts you have found. You'll probably find they will make you another better offer.

I did this when my car got written off and I got another £600 from the insurance company.

Ask the insurance company what the cost of buying it back is, you could end up quids in if they pay you the value of the bike, and you buy it back for less than that you have the difference to repair it with. Make sure you properly research prices on parts you'll need though as some parts are prety dear (such as the tank) and this will have contributed to writing the bike off

I have haggled, and sent cut outs and I'm still not satisfied that I got a fair price.

I have already bought the bike back and that is what is for sale, just trying to bump up the cash I have available for another bike.

maybe I wasn't making much sense, I was just a bit annoyed at the time!

Any offers?

Maybe I should have poseted it in the for sale section....can it be moved?

I'm still interested in what you've been offered. Remember you can buy a new K6 for £3899 ish. Well they have one in a dealer for me at that price.
