Default Another biker down

Young lad on Harthill main street this morning.

He's fairly local so we know who he is.

Tipped into a wet corner right hand turn and came off his 125, just greasy roads and inexperience.

He looked OK, ambulance crew had his lid off after the first 30 seconds of checking him over. Perhaps broken an arm and his ankle was sore also.

Will speak to some of his Harthill pals tonight to see how he is.

Awww, poor soul. I hope he recovers physically and that this doesn't harm his confidence too much.

Was out for a blast on Friday and the roads were very slippy from recent rain

Is it just me or is there more diesel on the road these days

Tony, spot on mate ref the diesel. Its starting to **** me off big time as well

In my opinion, its getting worse every time I go out, either that or its just because I look (and smell) harder.

I went down to London last weekend to take part in the kill spills rally from the Ace Cafe to Downing Street, were approx 5 thousand bikes there according to police official estimates.

These guys really do take the issue deadly serious as some of their friends have been killed in offs that could be proven to be caused by the sheer negligence of spilt diesel.

I went down actually with the intention of meeting the organisers and asking their advice re setting up much of the same in Scotland, i.e. organise a massive (hopefully) biker rally straight to the Scottish Parliament to lobby the MP's & poss even the 1st Minister.Anyway, to cut a long story short, I never got near the guys as the place was so busy and they were all under pressure to get in and out of London in the time allotted to them (the MET actually closed off the 4 mile route there and back), as well as that the guys were too busy marshalling since they were promised 30 MET officers and only ended up with 10 so they ended up helping the Police out in blocking off junctions etc.

Might seem like pie in the sky but I would definately be up for trying to organise something like that to raise awareness as I talk to a lot of bikers and they have never heard of KillSpills.org or their cause.

Have came off in diesel as well so it makes it kinda personal to me, was lucky as it was relatively low speed and following cars managed to stop in time behind me.

Anybody else up for trying to organise something like that to raise awareness ???

Definately up for it. Why don't we organise a rally starting in Glasgow George Sq, thru city centre and finishing by riding down the royal mile from the castle, past parliment horns blazing, and finishing in Holyrood park.

I've slipped off on a corner due to diesel as well, nothing serious just off on 5mph right hand turn that ended in scratched leathers, a sore finger and damaged mirrors & brake lever.

The only explanation I can come to for my near 70mph highside on the 9th July was diesel though, and that would have been something serious!!

Want to start a sticky for it? We can start by getting all the other biker forums in Scotland on board, ie: carnoustie bikers, scottish bikers, etc, etc, then asking all the bike shops to put up posters!!

Go through the main shopping areas of Glasgow and Edinburgh on a Saturday and we'd get a story on local TV news!

Hope the lad recovers alright. I'd definetly be up for it as I've had an incident with diesel. Also a very good excuse for a ride out!
