Default ss600 or sv1000

Just an idle post to see what peeps think is the way to go after the 650. Probably no time soon, but it's nice to dream (better than work anyway)

I would say if you have already had an SV then go for something different. It's good to see what else is good out there. SS600's are bloody quick!

I thought the 1000 would be quite different in terms of performance? Is it not?
Is (say, K1 GSXR 600) much faster again? I guess the delivery of performance would be quite different. I'm not averse to the odd 16000 revs

I've hear good things about the SV1000. It has a heap more grunt and accelerates like a train. Also the suspension is better (couldn't get worse) while being just a tad heavier. I still think a SS600 would trounce one though, for handling, weight and top end performance. But then I've been wrong before.

I'd want something pretty different, or something exactly the same R1, Duke 2, Falco, Spondon would be my 4 choices...

IIRC the SV1000 has suspension and brakes off a K3 I think GSXR-750 so it oughta stop and handle well. From what I've seen of Mattsv chucking his around that seems to be true.

I think you'll find it has more low down grunt than a SS600, but once the SS600 gets into its powerband then theres probably not a huge amount to choose between them.

Insurance is about the same, I know because I was considering just this a while ago before I decided I really wanted a GSXR-750.

One of the many wonderful qualities of the SV is the way it delivers usable power from virtually anywhere. Plenty of torque to ride up inclines like Porlock Hill with complete ease.

An SS600 will probably be faster and entertaining with very good tunable suspension. However you may find out quickly that the midrange of the SV simpley does not exists. Let it rev and it will reward though. It's a different way of riding.

My money would go on a triple (Trumpet 675?) or a Gixer 750/1000 (K5 is my preference for the zorst and engine is mounted lower) as that will have better midrange.

Have fun deciding and test riding in real world conditions.
