Default Another interesting trip to work..

Rant time....

So, travelling in this morning, nice and sunny, dry, but nippy. Plodding along and was on the inside lane of a 2 lane road. White van in another lane in front decides to try to undertake the car in his lane. He swerves accross lanes nearly wiping my front end out, and nearly wiping out a load of cyclists in my lane also... The road then goes to 1 lane (He never got past the car, no chance even before he swerved) and i pull out to the middle of the road. So i pull up along side, shaking my head and pointing at my mirror. The guy politley raises his hand with a middle finger, possibley an apology? Black guy, headband, 1 hand on top of the stearing wheel sitting as low as possible (in a white Mk4 Astra Van, you da man...... ), homie in the passanger seat.. I shake my head laughing away and go to ride off, but the guy swings my way forcing me onto oncoming traffic!!! I couldn't believe it, and stamp the brakes and pull in behined. The road spreads and I pull along side again. I look over and give a few "signals" and again he apologises by raising a middle finger again.. We approach some lights, i stop along side. He doesn't put his window down, but is still playing "da boy" attitude. Another all mouth no trousers retard then Yes, you are so very cool.... The lights go green and we pull away. I wasn't trying to beat him off the lights, he's clearly not that intelligent to "play" with so I accelerate as normal trying to forget Mr Homie. The road narrows and he's clearly floored it as he's along side and again all of a sudden. Yet again he edges closer and I get forced to the other side of the road... Playtimes over, im getting angry.... If he's not even gonna put his window down, im not playing ball... I'll just get off at the next light and belt you one..

The road then splits in 2 again. Another biker whos been watching whats happened comes past us both, the Astra decides he's going to take out his attitude on him, floors it, swings accross again and missis the biker by about 1/2 metre, but goes flying past. Coming up to the Rotherhithe tunnel roundabout and there is a pedestrian crossing, the van just floors it, doesn't stop for the RA, nor the crossing. Much to the fact theres 2 cars already stopped and someone crossing the crossing... The pedestrian was paying attention luckily and jumped out the way..... We both slow and allow him to cross. The other biker looks at me with a livid look in his eyes. The road then goes into 1 lane and 1 bus lane and the van gets caught in traffic. He goes past first striking a killer blow to the vans mirror and bits come flying off. I come past, and "finish the job" as it were. The whole mirror goes bouncing down the road. I carry on riding normally. I was just going to stop and get off, but he'd already started, and it saves my effort.. Its not like he uses them anyway clearly.

I catch up to the other biker at the next set of lights. He's livid that HE nearly got wiped out for no reason, that the van nearly wiped out the pedestrian, and that he nearly wiped me out, then forced me into very dangerous positions. Meanwhile the guy wouldn't even wind down his window.... He's well "bo wiv his posse gangsta homie in da ride wiv im ayiiiiiiiii". Hes comfortable with what he's just done to the van. Not suprisingly, so am I.

I don't usually condon mirror swiping unless the driver really does deserve it, but this guy did, and I only finished the job...

Still, traffic was GREAT into town this morning. I love school holidays...

As someone posted the other day, always expect the un-expected as it will usually happen. Be carefull of retards who think of no-one but themselves.

THat sounds ridicluously dangerous of the white van man, glad you two got his mirror, but I would rather the police were around to stop him and actually prevent him from running over pedestrians and trying to kill other people.

Was it spiderman per chance (the other biker)?

I dont condone taking their mirrors off or doing any damage, ultimatly you will loose if he hits you.

Its annoying but i try not to get in thoes situations, i have been known though.

Mirror swiping? It sounds more like that guy driving the van needed his window opening for him & a little education on the rules of the road.

And there was me running late for work doing stupid speeds & taking calculated risks. I felt like I was riding on the edge, but to be forced into oncoming traffic That's just asking for a kicking.

Sorry, just my 2p. Glad everything worked out & no harm came to anything other than the van.

I really don't know how you kept so calm. I would have dragged him from his car at the first set of lights and beaten the snot out of him. He tried to push you into oncoming traffic so a good kicking is what he needed. But then that's me.

I guess every biker has to watch out for a white Astra van with a broken mirror even more so now that he's out for revenge on any biker.
