Before you go out and buy some more grips. Try relaxing you grip on the bars!! It worked for me!

If it's for the current & near-future temperatures you're meaning you'll probably need heated grips.
The combination of vibes & cold is basically "white finger". There's been plenty discussion over the years about it.......use the search engine. Having the carbs balanced can help to reduce vibes, which has been mentioned in the topic threads. If you don't want heated, next step on the vibes insulation is foam grips. |

![]() ![]() Billy : thanks for that , but I am not a nervous rider. It is for me the reach and bar position that is causing the problem, ibelievee. GDBD59: I ride an injected 05 model so I guess its not the carbs ? I have had this problem with the bike since May this year , so its not cold related. I understand renthal do dual compound grips anyone tried them ? idefinitelyy need softer grips to solve the problem justdon'tt want a box full before I find the right ones ? |

Indeed Renthal do several grips of differing compound, a hard, medium and soft, also a duel compound.
have a look here http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/cgi-bi...l?cat=HBA-GRIP Just as a point, although you don't have carbs, your throttle bodies can go out of balance as well, so it wouldn't hurt to balance them anyway. Cheers Mark.

I would tend to go with the above advice that softer grips won't really stop your hands going numb. That said Renthal grips are supposed to be pretty soft but this is purely meant to ease a problem of fingers slipping on the grips. If your bike is a K5, then it does not have carbs, but the throttle bodies can go out of sync exactly the same way causing the engine to feel vibey and lumpy.
If you say it's the reach and bar position that is causing you this problem then the softer grips are unlikely to help a great deal. You could try fitting different bars to alter their position if you find you are putting weight through your arms and wrists. :edit: if you type slow someone will beat you to the good advice ![]()

Dont know about grips, but have you tried adjusting what you can to make the bike more comfy...
I found that rotating the break and clutch levers around so that I had a straight line from my elbow through my wrist made the bike much more comfortable to ride. Also and I don't know how long you've been riding for, but have you tried gripping the tank with your knees and relaxing your grip slightly on the bars. I found that makes a big difference as it takes weight of your wrists. HTH.

Not much too add here, relax grip with knees etc. But watch out for adjusting the levers too much. It does help but I really knackered the tendons in my left wrist when I adjusted the clutch lever too far. Very slight adjustments can put a lot of strain on different parts of your hands/wrists....all ok when I put it back

The oxford heated grips are softer, but they are larger too so an R6 throttle tube is a good idea while you are at it.
