Does anybody know the true weight of an SV650? Factories are notorious liars when it comes to weight figures, so I want to make some healthy comparisons with other bikes that have been weighted by third parties (magazines etc)

The frame of a fuel injected bike weights 13 kg and the swing arm 7 kg. No idea about the engine or all that other guff.

add say...15-20 kilos for a full tank of petrol, and 1.5kg for every litre of oil? maybe more, its very viscous. Whats the average density of engine oil?
(add it all onto the top of the dry weight) Matt |

194kg, Bike mag, Nov '06.
Says wet weight but not sure if that's with fuel or not. I was pleasantly surprised, only 25kg of grease, oil, battery and blatant fibbing. |

I think I made mine 187kg with a full tank back when i got the Veypor, can't remember for sure. That was a bit down on stock, with the race system, though. I'll see if I can remember to do it again at the weekend.

alpinestarhero, don't tell your chemistry teacher what you just posted! Oil and petrol both float on water, which makes them lighter...

The dry weight they quote is about right. No grease, fuel, oil, water etc etc.
You prob be close to 190kg fully wet. A race prepped minitwin is about 174kg wet.. Mine....161kg wet ![]() |
