Default sv600

does anyone know if you can sleeve down a 650 engine to 600 easily? (and cheaply!)

I very much doubt it, although there is a 400 jap market variant.

Cheers Mark.

There's a few guys in the states who've done it... Not sure how, exactly. Short stroke crank config out of a 400, bored out, maybe...

What a helpful post this was. I'm glad I wrote it

I'm thinking racing regs but it'd be way down on power compared to an in-line 4.

yeah for racing - but in a car (well a tiny one like a formula ford). Regs so 600cc max, but having the extra torque over a il4 would make a huge difference as the course is pretty tight. only other 600 twin i can think of is the monsters engine, but thats pretty weak!

I think you'll get a better top speed with a IL4. Thundercat engine was quite grunty low down.

yeah, got an r6 engine at the mo. But don't use 4-6th gear at all. So lots of grunt would be better than top speed. (and of course the sv engine has no limits )

I think an R6 engine produces more torque than the SV lump all the way through the range.

Have you thought about changing the gearing?

Yeah, sounds like a gearing change is what you need. Then you can use the extra power of the IL.
