Cool Getting fit again

Well I have decided that I need to start training again, after having surgery and injuries......

I have found just how unfit I am, well compared to level I was at a year ago! Used to beable to able to kick higher than I am now, can't run as far dam it! This is going to hurt, I'm stiff already after training....how long until I can get back to where I was?

Anyone trying to build up again after injury, grr so many steps backwards I have to undo now!

Me, I am just starting back after knee surgery.

Did I mention I had had knee surgery? Anyone remember?

Quite pleased if I make it up the stairs without having to use the bannister at the moment!

Before the op (6th Dec) I was running 25 miles a week, lost nearly two stone, felt on top of the world. Glad I did it though, would hate to think how low I would have sunk without getting to tae pre-op point!

Good luck with your fitness plan! Remember, the fitter you are, the longer you live after retirement. I intend to buck the trend and live more than the usual 8 or 9 years!

marvellous! What sort of training plan are you going to do?
Run, Cycle, Push ups?
I'm recovering from Whooping cough! Imagine that, 38 and got whooping cough! Bloomin heck. Chest is still sore with all the coughing. Can't do any push ups at all as the pain is sooo bad. Used to bang out 4 lots of 30 no prob.
Used to run a little too. I found it helped with my Asthma too, along with the daily inhale.
So, what are you going to do.?

Have started taking steps towards getting fit again! I used to cycle while I was in school and on a daily basis I would do about 120miles - I was part of a team of road cycling

So got the bike that will get me going to town instead of the car and in 2 weeks time I'm joining the gym again to do Aerobics and BodyPump sessions - I enjoy the "dancing with weights" sessions

dancing with weights can be fun, all depends on the scenery though!

That will be the DOMS then, but you knew that already.

Just take it easy the after and make sure you train again the following. Keep at it, go through the pain barrier so to speak and I bet you can suprise yourself how long it doesn't actually take to get back to your old self

Good luck chaps

Snap!!

I have been carrying one injury or another for just over a year now ... and it is piddling me off!! I am but a fraction of the fitness I was a year ago ... every time I get some way to being to my level of fitness again, I go and ruddy 'urt myself again putting me largely out of action for a while - back to square one .... not fair!!

Hey its just suck being injured doesn't it! Well I'll be bac in the gym tomorrow, I forgot how to use the treadmil so I restored to choice words to make it work which I did! LOL

My gym session will be something like stregh out, which is 5/10 mins a bit yoga thrown in there, run 30 min 7/8mph on incline, then pucnh bag I beat the crap out of that, go until exhausted (always feel good)

Then weights after that mix of machines and free weights, I mean was doing 18/20kg on my tricpes now its 16kg should take long to build up again. I want to make that a bit more, see how it goes.

Then martial training as well, when work allows 2 days/week, plus my own training. I hoping to put in a good 6-8 hours/week more if i can. But what I do may not work for u lot, you know getting motivated can be hard, its help to be ****ed off when training!

go swimming!!!! the best thing ever if you want to build up your cardiovascular capacity again. i go once a week on top of my hockey training and match per week, 2 hours of badminton, plus the odd game of squash. without the once a week swimming i struggle a lot more with lasting the full length of my hockey matches!!
