Default National anthem is pants - Can we change it?

Watching the internationals start I was jealous of the anthems the other country's get to sing. Most other nations sing about the ideal of the nation whereas ours is about living breathing people who have, over the years, become figures of derision. How can you sing the praises of a family as dysfunctional as that? Anyone remember the those tapes of Charles , Philips repeated acts of rank stupidty and 'er indoors complete indifference to her children.

And the tune is abysmal, I mean seriously it's a dirgy depressing tune, Not at all uplifting. We should have nicked the old Soviet anthem when they changed it, THAT was a stirring anthem. Maybe we could just change it to Jerusalem or Trelawny

They that the English RU team is playing atm, the Hokey Cokey would be approriate

I know I'm English, but I have to admit there's nothing more stirring than the Welsh anthem inside a packed Millennium Stadium. Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Can I play a huge guitar solo on this proposed new national anthem?

Exactly that's what an anthem is for, to make you feel part of a greater whole and to fight for that. I can't stand the dippers but hearing 'You'll never walk alone' sung by 40,000 people is really moving.

Sorry but every time I hear the National Anthem it makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. It makes me proud hearing it and it would be a shame to change it!

Allow me to suggest something by Tenacious D. It'd be great to have an up to date anthem that we could all rock out too!

I think it unfair that Scotland,Wales and Ireland can use their own,but poor old England is stuck with the N.A.

Could suggest "Land of Hope and Glory" which would be very appropriate as we seem to be having a lot of hope but little glory
