Hi guys, basically ive got my 1999 sv650s and i am thinking about keeping it out of the hands of thieving gits and helping my insurance.
Therefore i am interested in any recomendations inetrnal and external that people can provide. Obviously functionality is a factor and any reduction in insurance is always nice ![]() Cheers Mark *Edited to add- it has Alpha Dot already. |

A chain and something to chain it to.
I hate alarms and imobilisers or anything that gets wired in to the bike's electrics.Svs are a bit prone to the odd electrical gremlins at the best of times, and anything that adds to that is bad news IMO.

an almax chain and the biggest ground anchor you can find.
then a cheapo cover smeared in oil from argos for 15 quid, dont have a nice cover, as it shows that nice things are underneath. |

Cheers for the response Biggles;Ummmm something to think about there then. Don't get me started on electrics ive spent more time fighting my Mito's than i probably did riding it :P .
Do people tend to not alarm their SV's then? If you do how much if anything will it effect insurance premium? As for chain i had an oxford "weedy one", probably not as it was advertised, but ill probably get something you need a fork lift to move ![]() |

Last time I looked into it for a ZX9R an alarm would have cost £250-300 fitted with a certificate and would have saved about £30 on the insurance premium. Many insurance companies would not quote without an alarm though. Then I found the cheapest quote was through Hastings and they did not require an alarm.Job done.I doubt if an alarm will save you much at all on an SV.

When On the Move I use a Xena alarmed disc lock. IF Im riding with a friend we take a big chain and lock the bikes together as well.
In my garage I have a movement alarm and park a big 4 wheeled lump as close to the door as I can. |
