Default For the wet weather riders

Put my mobile phone in rucksack this morning, then set off in torrential downpour. Got to work this morning and the phone is buggered.

Sounds obvious but put your electrical stuff somewhere waterproof.

Remove the battery and take it apart as much as you can - put it somewhere warm and it should dry out by the end of the day.

I have out two phones through the wash ( I blame Mrs Matt ), and one in a cup of coffee.

I did the above and two out of three worked fine afterwards.

freezer bags, the unsung heroes of motorcycling.

I have a bum-bag that is small enough to wear under my jacket, but large enough to get my wallet, phone etc in.

I feel for you (after my son flushed a damn good phone down the toilet).

As has been said above, take it apart, put it somewhere dry. I would of done this, if it hadn't been flushed away If you try it & it doesn't work, you haven't lost anything. If it does work, you don't need to buy a new phone

When things are sold as "water proof" I generally take that to mean "water resistant" (and that means its only a matter of time).

1. Get small dehumidifier, huge plastic bag (litter ones work great especially when empty), phone;
2. Put small dehumidifier and phone inside plastic bag, leave dehumidifier cord out of bag, seal as good as possible;
3. Plug in dehumidifier;
4. Leave overnight;
5. Don't blame me if it still doesn't work afterwards.

HTH

Perhaps get different gear? Mine is 100% waterproof (when not crash damaged anyway)

I live in North Wales, I seriously doubt ANYTHING will keep me completely dry for the hour each way at motorway-ish speeds, esp when the heavens open.

It's just something of biking that I accept & deal with when it happens. Hasn't been so bad this far.

My Hein Gericke Cruise Jacket and Trousers have been excellent. My commute is an about hour each way, sometimes on the motorway, sometimes on fast A roads. And the rain in the South West is just as wet as North Wales. I wear my office clothes underneath, and the only issue is not getting them wet as I'm taking the jacket off.
