tight screw

i cant undo the screw holding by bar ends on as the idiot who put them on must have used a torque wrench (it wasnt me) any hints?

Use plenty of penetrating oil between the bolt and the bar end if its seized there. Stuff called 'Plus Gas' used to be very good as is 3in1 in a small tin. Leave it overnight then reapply in the morning. Have another go at removing the bolt tomorrow afternoon.

If its seized inside the bar it might be worth trying an impact driver of its really stuck with the correct bit. Read the instructions before using though or you could end up tightening it more.

Try giving it a sharp tap with a hammer. I can't remember if it is a philips head bolt or a allen key bolt. Stick the screw driver or allen key in the hole and give it a sharp whack as if you are trying to hammer the bar end into the handle bar.

Or use Beenz's advice.

when you say penetrating oil is WD40 ok?

its a phillips.............. at the mo trying not to round it

i think an allen key would be better so you could get some leverage on it

Better than nothing, but a proper penetrating oil like plus gas is better.

edit: apparently WD40 is a penetrating oil see here

thjanx for the tips................which all helped,but i think that twisting the bar ends with mole grips freed somthing?

although the screw heads are screwad

ill be back in 10 mins with my next prob

PlusGas isn't really a DIY shop sort of thing - your local motor factors may be able to help.
