Bloomin' weather.
![]() I've got the whole sandbag thing going on. One dropped on the sidestand and another draped over the left footrest and gear lever. My theory is that if the wind wants to tip my SV off it's stand, it'll have to lift 40kg of sand as well. ![]() However, with the benefit of the prediction of gales, I'm wondering if it is safe to lay my bike on it's side for the entire night? It sure can't get blown over then! Will fluids leak during the night? Would I need to leave it upright for a time again before starting to allow oil to seep back to where it should be? All advice greatly appreciated! |

put in a garage!
or stand up against a wall with side stand on opposite side to wall. |

By twisting a chain so all the slack comes out of it, you can use a chain to "chain down" a bike onto the side stand (try lifting it up off the stand once chained to make sure). One chain on the front wheel and one on the back, if you can find some railings or something similar to chain it to should do the trick. Park it head into the wind, in gear, etc. too, obviously.
Personally, I'd not lay it down. You're guaranteed some damage that way. You might even find a well meaning, but physically weak person comes across it, tries to pick it up and ends up dropping it. |

Those would be solutions. But no wall and no garage available unfortunately!
I might lash the bike to the missus's car... |

Havnt you got a lamp post or road sign or something you can rope or chain it to?
If you park it next to and close to a car (or even better - a van), parallel with the car, side stand side to the car, the car should stop the worst of the wind..... |
