Default CARS!!! CARS!!! CARS!!! CARS!!!

Now this seems to be a bit of a moan to some, but its a deadly serious topic. i don't know if anyone knows the Nottingham district at all, but it seems to be an stupidly unfriendly place for bikes. just doing my daily travel today and i was almost taken off twice, and there was a biker killed this morning 3 Min's away from my house due to a car not paying attention, i don't know the ins and outs of it so i cant comment on that much more.
now im a confident rider, and since my own crash i have been more cautious than a timid cat, people just do not see you, i follow the rules i life saver check every time i need to, my mirrors are checked every time i change anything, HOW HARD IS IT TO SEE A LOUD BRIGHT RED BIKE??? my leathers have a BRIGHT LIME GREEN BAND ACROSS MY CHEST (doesn't really go with the bike but im on very little income lol, )
if all car drivers could have at least a month on a bike they would see the reason we worry, they say we "Think We Own The road" yeah because the ratio from bikes to cars is so high isnt it
its dangerous on the road, if its not your average chav in a corsa with a fart box on the back attempting to race you with to impress the ferrits in the back seat, its 4x4's not even caring if your there or not. or not to forget the business estate drivers doing a steady 130mph in any lane at any speed limit
and of course one other thing . . . diesel
I know sometimes bikers and bikes get a bit crazy, but not many accidents are caused by us,
if any one can think of anything else just post it below,
I heard a interesting quote from a chav not so long ago . . "Think bike. . . Think W@nker, they just bounce of my bonnet" I as im sure many of us have Fallen friends due to idiots like this so
lets just say he was told and didnt have a leg to stand on . . . .

Sorry to put a downer on such an amazing community site
i enjoy every minute reading through these pages,
so thanks to everyone.

Ive been riding for a year, if I'm repeating things over then I'm sorry but as for experience goes only time builds it, i guess I'm lacking, dicing with death on the road is pretty new to me, I'm sure you can appreciate why i posted that, as a fairly new biker it was just a shock.

I must say, that "think bike" comment was way out of order and scrotes like that should have their licenses removed.

Its all easy to tar all drivers with the same brush, as it also too easy to stereotype due to the car/vehicle type but its something we shouldn't really do, as bikers and drivers we are stereotyped so should know better*. If all stereotypes of drivers were true it would make it easier for us to tell the idiots on the road from the safe drivers though.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but just remember that not all days everyone is out to run you off the road, and if they try just remember you'll be at your destination quicker than them and have a lot more fun

*except for BMW drivers who are a law to themselves

In response to your original post, sadly thats the case pretty much everywhere.
You just have to be extra alert to compensate for their ignorance.
I found this
really helpful. (News years resolution to do my IAM proper this year)

I'm a fairly new biker too (6months ish), and I live out in the middle of nowhere (north wales). What you see happens everywhere, unfortunately.

Treat everyone (even police cars!) like they're trying to kill you, and you won't go far wrong. However, there's a fine balance between using the bike's power to get away from a situation, and being a hooligan. Personally, I prefer to be on the power than on the brakes, but there are times that I'll sit behind an idiot (that way I have control, not the idiot).
