Anyone know if you can pay a US Cheque into a UK bank account. If not, how do i go about getting an American cheque cashed with the minimum fees?

I checked this out a while ago due to making overseas sales on eBay.
I've been told by NatWest (who I bank with) that you can do this - however, it can take up to a month to actually clear. It kinda has to be sent back over there, cleared from their bank, sent back over here and clear in your bank... enough red tape to cross the Atlantic twice then! |

When I needed to do this a while ago Nationwide wanted something like £20 and 6 weeks to process.
Could do with a better exchange rate for cashing USD! RR |
