I was just wondering if there is any way of disabling the rev limiter on the SV (Maybe a wire that can be unplugged from the ignition module as with the timing retard mod). Or do I have to buy a special 'module' to disable it?????

no cable you can unplug, is a rather tricky thing to do, and very risky, the power will also drop off very quickly past the rev limiter, its just not designed for it

Damn, I was hoping it would be simple, the bike keeps bouncing off the limiter before it has run out of puff and its quite annoying... What do you mean by risky??

Yeah I dont want to rev the nuts through the roof and cause engine damage but it does seem to cut in quite low (about 10500rpm) i de-limited my last bike which was also a v-twin (honda bros 400) and that revved to 12000rpm no problem....

taking it to the rev limiter is reving the nuts off it, i have already killed one of these engines, they are not made for it,
your peak power is in the 8000-10000rpm range, you just dont need to go any higher |

AH.. I don't need the engine blowing up on me so maybe i'll learn to shift sooner i forget how torquey these engines are and that they can pull well even when you shortshift. Maybe I need to buy an IL4......

if you want rediculas revs with all the power at the top end and none at the bottom, then IL4 is perfect for you. what makes the v twin nice, is that tourque at low/mid range, you can wind that power out straight from the exit of a corner, when i go riding with my mate on his 140hp GSXR750, i can wind that power down so much earlier than he can coming out of the corners and i leave him well behind, well at least unitl he gets on the straights

CHANGE UP!! you'll have a lot more puff if you do there are some dyno charts here: http://www.jhsracing.co.uk/archive/9...dyno/index.htm you can see that the power falls off sharply above ~10k, so there's really nothing to be gained by over-revving it risky - the rev limiter is there to keep the engine in its designed rev range. take it any higher & you'll get fun things like valve bounce which will cause the engine to eat itself in dramatic & expensive ways, quite possibly whilst locking the back wheel suddenly at whatever speed you might be doing |

I was only joking.. I love V-Twins hence my last and current bikes were both V2's I think i'm just trigger happy with the throttle (im only 19, just come out of my 33bhp limit). Self control maybe a better option than de-limiting....
