Get the Zen as it's a true MP3 player not one of these jumped up apple players. Get far more functionality from they Zen. Downside is you will have to move all your tunes out of that piece of 5h*T itunes software. Having said that I couldn't be bothered moving my tunes from itunes so I ended up getting another ipod!

What about the Zune? Is that similar to the Ipod in that you cannot add anything which isnt in iTunes?

I like the ipod design and interface. A decent size and very good screen. It would suit my needs. It will also play MP3s if you add them into itunes. Most of the bods at work use them n all. I've not tried the zen but the reviews are OK. Its probably one of those things where either would be fine. Look at the spec differences and see if any of them are on your required list.

ive got the old 20gb creative, its great, the creative software is really good too,
only down side , and its the same for all mp3's is putting titles to all the tracks. mind numbing creative gets my vote. |

i really didn't want an ipod as i thought they were only being bought for the design, and have gone through a fair few mp3 players since. However they have the best software, and consequently are the nicest to use. The 14month thing is a myth - just unplug it properly by ejecting it. Consider the 8gb nano though, i think its way better and is next on my list.

Bit old, but I've a Archos Jukebox 20gb, love the fact it's a laptop hard drive so easy to replace and runs on 4 AA batteries (rechargeable in or out of player) or just buy some normal ones if out for a while.
