use the search function, you'll find 4 or 5 threads covering this..
Oh and this is the part number you want, which I pinched from a previous thread on this subject

Its a simple enough job. The idea is to reduce the throttle turn from 1/4turn to 1/5 turn. This basically means you can get to full throttle without as big a 'twist'. It won't imporve bike perforance, but does increase rider/wrist comfort!!

Because you need a certain small amount of free play in the throttle. If you tighten the throttle cable to much you'll end up with an extremely sensitive throttle and your bike will be a bitch to ride.

Because that does not affect the amount of cable the throttle pulls through a turn simply.
Think about the gears on a push bike leaving the gear at the wheel in the same spot if you change from the small cog at the crank to a larger one you go further for a given revolution of the crank. Exactly the same principle. |

I tightened the throttle cables as well as doing the R6 tube. It's not much fun to ride - every bump/slight hand movement has the bike accelerating or decelerating and you can mistake the front forks for a pogo stick. It's worst in low gears, though you can still get by slipping the clutch.
I settled for about 1mm of freeplay and slip the clutch when I need to. It's easy enough to play about with the cable play at the handlebar end. |
