Default Dunlop D208RR on an SV

Has anybody tried these on an SV?

A friend at work has them on his R1 and swears by them, in the dry and damp, he reckons the extra lean over other sports tyres is amazing, and gets abotu 2600 miles to a rear, most of it "hooning" on his R1.

So would I appreciate the extra grip such tyres would give on the SV or would it have it tieing itself in knots? I've found the rear Pirelli Diablo Strada can start to drift slightly (and nice and progressively) when on the power out of corners at trackdays.

Any advice on these or other sticky tyres on the SV welcome.

PS will be fitting new springs and oil shortly, apart from that bike is stock.

Not tried on the SV but these came as standard on my Tuono which I've only ever hooned on - brilliant Tyre though and I got on really well with it. It used to get all sticky and start to gumball when I pushed it hard on twisty roads which gave me lots of confidence to push harder still. Never once stepped out on me. Only gave 3000 miles though and it was done.

It has been superseded by the Dunlop Qualifier which I didnt like much so maybe hard to find RRs now. Maybe the tyre compound was a little harder or I just got a rubbish batch but it didnt give me the same confidence as I dropped the rear out on hairpins a few times and it wouldnt look sticky - just hard and smooth. This resulted in lost mojo.

Am running Diablo Corsas now - would rate them the same as the Dunlops. Of course there is the Corsa IIIs now which I hear are even better with the new compounds. Overall these or the RRs would be my tyre choice if you want proven stick.

I believe it is the 207 RR that is no longer produced much, the 208RR being its replacement (I think).

Thanks for the Corsa tip, anyone else out there with sticky tyres on an SV experience?

What mileage are you getting out of them on the SV?

I've covered about 1500 miles and there's no sign of squaring and there's loads of tread left! And by god there sticky when warmed up

No experience with the Dunlops but Busters are doing a pair of Metzeler Rennsports fpr £129.99.
Again, not experience with them as unlike Billy I don't need stickies to go fast .

They should provide all the grip needed in the dry/track days but not so good in the wet. Might be another option depending on what others say and how much you can get them fited for.
